  • UMass course–Teaching in the Age of Mass Incarceration–is so popular that UMass arranged a second section right after the first one: 6:15-7:45pm.

  • ESE signs contract with Measured Progress to develop MCAS-2.0. Recap: Work on social studies frameworks pushed back to early 2017. Panelists have been chosen.

  • Emerging America is dropping the $100 deposit requirement. Instead, to ensure registrant commitment to courses, we will charge modest fees ($25-$85).

  • Sept 6 deadline to apply for 2016-2017 History Institute - Teaching in the Age of Mass Incarceration, sponsored by UMass Amherst Dept. of History & CES Emerging America. Apply by Sept. 6. Space limited. Teacher Institute. (See next item.)

  • Sept. 9 begins yearlong Feinberg Family Lecture Series: The U.S. in the Age of Mass Incarceration. Sponsored by UMass Amherst Department of History. Feinberg series. No registration required for the speaker series. Do sign in!

  • Oct. 29 - Northampton - First to Fight: American Volunteers in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) - With breakouts in Spanish and English. $25. Register!

  • Oct. 25 & Nov. 10 - 8:30am-4:00pm; Dec. 20 4-6pm. Northampton - Access Inquiry for Students with Disabilities through Primary Sources. Will meet 15-hour requirement for license renewal re quality instruction of Special Education students. Taught by Laurie Risler. $65. Available for 1 grad credit Westfield State (extra fee).   • Springfield Armory - Dates TBD. Workshop on storytelling, writing, and experiential education. In partnership with Springfield Armory National Historic Site, Western Mass Writing Project, Veterans Education Project.
