  • The Massachusetts Legislature passed and Governor signed $1.5 million in funding for Civic Engagement! 

  • CivXNow coalition position papers: "Equity in Civic Education" and "CivXNow Federal Policy Agenda." Info

  • Stanford History Education Group (SHEG) updated all its lessons and assessments for teaching online.  https://sheg.stanford.edu/ 

  • iCivics has ended and replaced many of its Adobe Flash programs. See a crosswalk of alternate games

  • If you would like to support an effort (with a colleague in Pennsylvania) to translate key Library of Congress primary sources into other languages, email rcairn@collaborative.org with your contact info and the language(s) you can work in. 

  • The Library of Congress now offers online the papers of 23 U.S. presidents from Washington to Coolidge.  https://www.loc.gov/collections/

Teacher as Student: Treat Yourself to Excellent History Courses in 2021

 Course Info & Registration 

  • Emerging America content courses feed the mind AND provide practical teaching strategies to face whatever comes in 2021. 

  • Spring courses examine context and implications of current events: the right to privacy, the experience of immigrants, disability rights, and right-wing populist politics. 

  • Earn PDPs or optional grad credit. 

  • Meet Mass requirements for 15 hours of professional development on teaching students with disabilities; and 15 hours on teaching English Learners.
