  • Next Step to Formal Adoption of the Framework
  • Summer Institute - DESE will host a three-day statewide Civics Education Institute for 250 educators July 24-26 in Marlborough
    • CES is planning the event in partnership with the Massachusetts Center for Civic Education, Generation Citizen, and DESE staff.
    • Each district team (determined by the superintendent, not at the school level), must complete an application for all members of the team. Most districts may send teams of two or three educators; Commissioners Districts and Gateway Cities (listed on the registration site), may send teams of four. At a minimum, each team must include a curriculum leader and a middle school history-social science teacher. Register. For questions about the Institute, contact CES directly.
  • Civics Legislation - Legislation to support civics education is making its way through the legislature. For additional information, see the latest version of the legislation, S. 2375.

ACCESSING INQUIRY FOR ALL LEARNERS: Hands-on workshop to learn and practical skills for teaching diverse learners. “Accessing Inquiry” courses meet Mass license renewal requirements for 15-hours PD on students with disabilities or 15-hours PD on English Learners. Optional 1 Westfield State University grad credit in History available.
